Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a particular time and place.

What is Climate?

Climate is defined as an area’s long-term weather patterns. The simplest way to describe climate is to look at average temperature and precipitation over time. Other useful elements for describing climate include the type and the timing of precipitation, amount of sunshine, average wind speeds and directions, number of days above freezing, weather extremes, and local geography.

How does the weather affects farmers?

Weather can improve the bounty of the crops with a good amount of rain and sunshine to ripen certain produce or it can kill the crops by flooding the crops causing the soil to not be able to take in the water and possibly dis-root the plants or not get enough water in a drought and cause them to die. It can also have spring freezes and cause the plants to die by freezing the water in the chloroplasts causing them to ice over, the plant to not be able to make glucose through photosynthesis therefore the plant dies. Seemingly It governs the farmer and dictates the money flow and amount of produce and what they have in the next seasons.

How does the weather affect sailors?

If there is a storm, waves and currents are likely to pick up, and if the sip has sails, the wind is likely to move the ship around. Weather can also help the sailor guide and navigate his ship through the water by telling him which directions are good to go and such. Weather is extremely important in navigation and sea-faring.

Why are weather forecasts important to each of these groups?

Forecasts are used by government and industry to protect life and property and to improve the efficiency of operations, and by individuals to plan a wide range of daily activities.
